Gas Transition Plan - Biogas Research Report

The New Zealand Gas Industry Co. (GIC) and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) are developing a Gas Transition Plan (GTP). The GTP will give direction to the decarbonisation of New Zealand’s gas sector.

The GTP is split into two pillars: Pillar One – Transition pathways for the fossil gas sector, and Pillar Two: The role of renewable gases.

Wood Beca Ltd was commissioned to complete research on biogas and renewable LPG (rLPG) production in New Zealand as an input for Pillar Two. The aim of this report is to demonstrate of the scope of supply potential in the country, and to understand the feasibility and economics of the possible supply opportunities across the emissions reduction budget timeframes.
